To enroll in Summer Session courses, you may apply online or contact the Admissions Office for a paper application. Roanoke College does not discriminate against employees, students or applicants on the basis of race, sex, disability, age, veteran status, national origin, religion or political affiliation.
If you are a student in good standing, have requisite background for college-level coursework and are eligible to return to all previously attended colleges or universities, you are invited to attend the Summer Session as a special, non-degree-seeking student. An official college transcript is required in order to attend. Proof of any prerequisites for a course must be verified. An acceptance to the College as a non-degree student is required before registering for classes and does not warrant admission to seek a degree through Roanoke. To apply as a degree seeking student starting with the summer session, please contact the Admissions Office.
There are a variety of courses offered in a traditional classroom setting, as well as in an online format, during the four summer sessions.

The application deadline for Summer Session 1 is Thursday, May 13, 2020.
The application deadline for Summer Session 2 is Thursday, June 3, 2020.
How to Register
Registration for the 2024 Summer Session opens November 9, 2023. Please reference the summer academic calendar for add and drop dates for summer sessions.
Check-in for the Summer Sessions is not required. However, all financial arrangements must be completed. Failure to do so may result in your being dropped from class(es). Students who have not pre-registered must complete the online change to course schedule process by the deadline noted on the summer academic calendar. Academic advisors are available online through the Center for Learning and Teaching to assist with course selection.
Auditing
If you do not wish to earn credit for courses, you may enroll as an auditor. Auditors must meet the attendance policy for the course. They may participate in classroom discussions and other course activities; however, quizzes, tests, final examinations, projects, and papers are not required. Auditors pay the same fees as students enrolled for credit. They apply, are admitted, and register as special students. Please notify the Registrar's Office in writing at registration of your plans to audit a course by completing a "Request to Audit" form, available here.
