VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSORS, ROANOKE COLLEGE - Applications are invited for two appointments starting August 2016. These are full-time positions with benefits. A Ph. D. in any field of chemistry or biochemistry is required. Teaching duties will primarily be in general chemistry, non-majors courses (part of the Intellectual Inquiry curriculum), and lower division labs. The teaching load at Roanoke is a total of three sections (any combination of lectures or labs) per semester. Excellent teaching and a commitment to liberal learning are expected. Experience teaching freshman seminar/writing across the curriculum is a plus. Research with undergraduates is possible but not required. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Two visiting positions are available. One is a one-year sabbatical replacement. The other position, which meets an ongoing staffing need, is an initial one-year appointment with two additional one-year re-appointments possible, conditional on performance and the needs of the College. Applicants who do not indicate otherwise will be considered for both positions.
A separate contract to teach organic chemistry during a summer session may also be available.
