The Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center (BRAAC) is a nonprofit center that provides education and services for children and families affected by autism and unique learning challenges, such as Learning Disabilities.

Blue Ridge Literacy was founded in 1985 by two librarians who wanted to address a need in their community. The mission of Blue Ridge Literacy is to support the achievement of life goals by providing opportunities to strengthen literacy skills to adults in western Virginia

Feeding Southwest Virginia was founded in 1981 and is a food bank that serves 26 counties and 9 cities in the region. We work with the facility located in Roanoke.

Salem Food Pantry
Food Insecurity
The Food Pantry provides a week's worth of groceries to people in need who live in Salem, Vinton, and Roanoke County. We provide a nutritional balance of meats, fruits, vegetables, carbohydrates, and dairy to families who are referred to us by government agencies, medical facilities, schools, and churches.

We partner with qualified families who join us in our goal of renewing neighborhoods as well as improving their own lives. Habitat builds and renovates houses and sells them at no profit with affordable mortgages over a 20-30 year term.

RAM House

Roanoke Area Ministries (RAM) is an interfaith non-profit that advocates for those facing or are threatened by homelessness and hunger. Founded in 1971, our doors are open for those needing care coordination, day shelter services, meals, and emergency financial assistance.

Rescue Mission

As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to share not only a hot meal with our shelter and community guests but engage with encouraging words and a friendly smile. Volunteers are needed to serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner 365 days a year.
