President's First Year Leadership Council

The President’s First-Year Leadership Council is a prestigious opportunity for 25 outstanding first-year students to grow as leaders within the close-knit community Roanoke College has to offer. Members engage in personalized leadership development, explore academic and career pathways, all while building meaningful connections with peers, faculty, and upperclass student mentors.

  • Attend a fall and spring retreat with the President and council members.
  • Engage in opportunities to shape the Roanoke College student experience like offering direct feedback and ideas to leadership and community organizers.
  • Connect with future internship opportunities.
  • Foster meaningful friendships with like-minded, curious, driven, and thoughtful peers.
  • Participate in monthly meetings with the President and senior leadership at Roanoke College.
  • Enjoy monthly lunches with the council to discuss upcoming events, current experiences, and themes.
  • Attend dinner at the President’s House (Fishwick House) during the fall and spring term to discuss first-year experiences.
