Virginia Private College Week is July 25-30

Prospective students are invited to participate in Virginia Private College Week from July 25 – 30, hosted by the Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia (CICV) and Roanoke College.

Roanoke College will offer campus tours and information sessions about academic programs, admissions, financial aid, and student life. College officials will also address some of the common myths about the cost of a private college education.

"Virginia is blessed with excellent higher education options," Dr. Brenda Poggendorf, vice president for enrollment and dean of admissions and financial aid, said. "Private College Week is the perfect time to dive in and learn more. Explore as many campuses as you can to see that Virginia’s private colleges offer myriad programs in and out of the classroom as well as real-world learning experiences. The Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant of $4,500 per year (available to all Virginia residents) in combination with merit and need-based awards make Virginia’s private colleges surprisingly affordable."

“Visiting campuses in person is one of the most important steps in the college search process,” explains Robert Lambeth, President of CICV. “I encourage parents to explore which college will be the best fit for their son or daughter, and I want to reassure them that a quality education at a Virginia private college is affordable and within reach."

Students who visit at least three participating institutions during the week will receive three application fee waivers. Students may use these waivers to apply to any three participating CICV colleges for free. In addition, those who visit at least three colleges will be entered in a drawing to win one of five $100 Amazon gift cards.

Sessions will be held in both the morning and afternoon, Monday through Friday, and at 9 a.m. on Saturday. To schedule a visit to Roanoke College, visit the Admissions page.
