Come hear Dr. Gretchen Matthews (Virginia Tech) talk about cryptography!

Abstract: How do you store information in a way that guarantees availability even if some parts are lost? What if many users need the same information at the same time? How can we handle information so sensitive that it is dangerous in the hands of a single or small number of individuals but might be needed by a larger group, meaning any single (or small group, say of t-1 users) cannot access it alone but any t users can unlock it? Polynomials are at the root of our approach. We'll see how they support these applications and how they make everyone a winner in the information lottery every time.
