CANCELED - Latinx Women Writers: Breaking Down Walls

Contact: arias@roanoke.edu

Latinx women writers: breaking down walls is a poetry recital where women voices express their views on Hispanic/Latinx immigration in the U.S. Voices, like the Colombian Consuelo Hernández, introduce the audience to a broad range of topics where diasporic experiences become a poetic expression of resistance and identity. Our students, minors and majors in Spanish, will recite those poems as well as perform an excerpt of "Sangiving in Union City," a comedy about three generations of a Cuban-American family adjusting to American life from the Cuban playwright Manuel Martín Jr.
