Teresa Gereaux, gereaux@roanoke.edu false MM/DD/YYYYHow can video games explore the legacy of slavery? How could they be incorporated into academic courses? To explore answers to these questions, we will discuss the last two chapters of Alyssa Goldstein Sepinwall's Slave Revolt on Screen, which analyses Méwilo (considered the first video game designed by a Black woman) and Assassin's Creed: Freedom's Cry, among other video games that draw on the legacy of French slavery and colonialism in the Caribbean. After the discussion, we will experience (play!) some of the games discussed. Please email Matt Trumbo-Tual trumbotual@roanoke.edu with questions or to access the text, which is available here for members of the RC community. This event is sponsored by the Center for Studying Structures of Race.
