Study Abroad
Environmental Studies students are encouraged to consider studying abroad to strengthen and enrich their educations. Be in nature. Experience the connections.
In Spring 2013, we had three Environmental Studies students abroad:
Stephanie Clements
Stephanie Clements, an Environmental Studies major and Spanish minor, spent Spring 2013 studying in Costa Rica. In February 2013, Steph wrote:I have only been here for 3 weeks and it is already proving to be one of the greatest experiences of my life. Studying in Costa Rica as an environmental science major and Spanish minor is an unbelievable opportunity. I have already had the chance to participate in a reforestation project with endangered trees and visited several conservation areas! I am so excited about all of the opportunities coming up as well as there are volunteer trips to conservation parks almost every weekend and I even have field trips there with my classes! I am gaining so much by being immersed in a different culture and learning from a new perspective. I highly encourage anyone considering it to seize the opportunity to study abroad!
Zack Borst
Zack Borst, an Environmental Studies major, is spent Spring 2013 in Australia. Zack posted a video of a trip to the Great Barrier Reef to YouTube: Zack & Friends at Great Barrier Reef. He promises that he is doing lots of work, not just rock climbing and snorkling!
Kyle King
Kyle King, an Environmental Science major, spent Spring 2013 in Ireland. He returned to an internship at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center in Summer 2013.
