General James R. Clapper: Ethics and the Current and Future Importance of Intelligence Gathering

The Henry H. Fowler Program and the Delta Gamma Lectureship in Values and Ethics Program presents General James R. Clapper, who will continue this year’s academic theme, The Next America. This talk is open to the campus and community.

General Clapper was nominated in 2010 by President Obama to serve as U.S. Director of National Intelligence and unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate in 2010. He served in that position until 2016. He had held a variety of defense and intelligence positions previously as well as having worked in private military consulting and serving as Distinguished Professor in the Practice of Intelligence at Georgetown University.
The Delta Gamma Lectureship in Values and Ethics Program, endorsed by their national organization, is a new endowed speaker series at Roanoke College recognized by their national organization. The Henry H. Fowler Program has been providing distinguished speakers for the benefit of the campus and community, since 1983.
Tenor Logan Stugart presents his Senior Project Recital on Feb. 24 at 4 p.m. in Olin Recital Hall. Featured composers are Handel, Schubert, Fauré, Massenet and Laitman. Accompanist is Marianne Sandborg. This performance is free and open to the public. Reception to follow.

Roanoke College Subject Tutoring
Roanoke College Subject Tutoring is a Level II Internationally Certified Tutor Training Center through the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) that offers free tutoring in over 40 different subjects and Academic Coaching to Roanoke College students. The Marketing Assistant position involves promoting these services offered at Roanoke College Subject Tutoring through marketing events, social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat), and print distributions under the direction of the Marketing Manager. Candidates should be well-versed in creating posters and information cards that are witty, visually-interesting, and – most of all – informative. Candidates must be experienced in Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat for business/organization purposes, including page management and regularly posting original content. Tasks will vary weekly and sometimes require thinking outside the box, so the candidate must be creative, skilled, and flexible. We strongly encourage freshmen and sophomores to apply.
