Welcome to ASPire
Develop Skills. Discover Strengths. Find Support.
The ASPire Program (Autism Support Program) at Roanoke College is designed to help neurodivergent students develop the academic, social, and personal skills needed to thrive in college and beyond. Through individualized support, mentoring, and engaging workshops, ASPire empowers students to take charge of their learning, build confidence, and connect with a supportive community.
ASPire Program Features
Peer Mentoring
Each student is paired with an upper-level Roanoke College mentor who provides guidance, encouragement, and practical advice for navigating college life. Mentors help participants set goals, build routines, and develop stronger study and self-management habits.
Weekly Workshops
ASPire students participate in interactive weekly sessions focused on essential college success skills such as:
Self-Advocacy: Understanding and communicating your needs effectively
Study Skills: Learning strategies for managing coursework and exams
Self-Care: Maintaining balance and wellness in a college environment
Social Skills: Building meaningful connections and community
Workshops are designed to be engaging, supportive, and tailored to the needs of each cohort.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is ASPire Right for Me?
The ASPire Program (Autism Support Program) is designed specifically to support students on the autism spectrum who are registered with Accessible Education Services (AES) and who wish to enhance their college experience through additional skill-building and community support.
While ASPire was originally developed to assist autistic students in navigating the transition to college, any AES-registered student may apply to participate in the program’s mentoring, workshops, and individualized support opportunities.
How Do I Apply?
Students interested in joining ASPire are encouraged to complete an online application to help us learn more about their goals, strengths, and support needs.
Because ASPire is a specialized program with limited spaces, applications are reviewed to ensure that each student is a good fit for the program’s structure and supports.
Once the online form is submitted, Accessible Education Services staff will follow up to schedule a brief conversation about the student’s interests, needs, and expectations for participating.
Is There a Program Cost?
There is a financial cost associated with enrollment in the ASPire Program. This fee helps support peer mentoring, workshops, and individualized programming. For more information about current program costs, please contact Accessible Education Services.
