Disclosures for Licensure Programs
Professional Licensure Disclosures
For programs that lead to a professional licensure that is required for employment in a particular field, federal regulations require notifications to students about how the particular academic program matches up with licensure requirements. Since most professional licensures are issued by individual states, the requirements include notifications not only about the state where the institution is located, but notifications for each state and territory in the United States.
Do Roanoke College Teacher Licensure Programs meet requirements for licensure in my state?
Roanoke College’s Teacher Licensure Programs, approved by the Virginia Board of Education and nationally accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), include Art Education, Biology Education, Chemistry Education, Computer Science Education, Elementary Education, English Education, French Education, Health & Physical Education, Mathematics Education, Middle School Education, Music Education, Physics Education, Social Studies Education, Spanish Education, Teaching English as a Second Language, and Theater Education.
Though all of our Teacher Licensure programs meet the requirements for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia, other states and territories have different requirements, all of which are subject to change. There may also be supplementary requirements beyond educational preparation, e.g. testing or field experience hours. If seeking to work outside Virginia, please review the licensure requirements for that jurisdiction and contact their licensing agency for the most accurate information.
