Summer Exchange in France Brings Context to Class Experiences
March 28, 2018
Liesl Greider ’20, a history major and French minor, exemplifies how the classroom provides real world experiences with greater context and meaning. She spent time during the summer interning with several institutions in Saint-Lô, France. During the first internship, she helped the sister cities chapter president with American tour groups for the 75th anniversary of D-Day. One-month prior, Greider had participated in the D-Day May term.
"What I learned [on May term] served as invaluable background information for my time in Normandy," said Greider. Her second internship was dedicated to teaching English language and American culture to French students as an English teaching assistant at the Institut Saint-Lô. Greider also interned at two local museums: the Bocage-Normand (Wooded Countryside-Normandy) and the fine arts museum.
