Through a new partnership with Google, Roanoke College now offers artificial intelligence training and career-focused certificates to all students, faculty and staff at no cost. The catalogue includes 10 different certificates in high-demand fields such as AI, cybersecurity, data analytics and more. Learners can use this flexible online training to develop job-ready skills and open new career pathways.

Additional Information
- Modules are on Coursera. Modules take varying amounts of time to complete – the AI foundations module takes a few hours, while the cybersecurity module takes several months. Modules consist of videos, reading and labs or hands-on experiences.
- A LinkedIn badge and certificate will be available for each course upon completion.
How to Enroll
Step 1: Complete the Enrollment Form
To request access to a Google Career Certificate, fill out the enrollment form below. You will need to indicate:
Which certificate you want to complete first (you can only complete one at a time)
Your estimated completion timeframe (so we can manage licenses fairly)
Step 2: Wait for Approval & Coursera Invitation
If your license is approved, you will receive an email invitation from Coursera granting access to the program. Please check your Roanoke email inbox (and spam folder, just in case).
Step 3: Create a Coursera Account (Do NOT Use Google Sign-In!)
When setting up your account, be sure to:
- Do NOT sign in with Google or other social login options
- Click “Sign Up for an Account” if you don’t already have a Coursera account
- Use your Roanoke College email (e.g., jsmith@mail.roanoke.edu)
Step 4: Accept the Coursera Invitation & Start Learning
Once logged in:
- Accept the invitation in Coursera
- Select the certificate program you want to complete
- Start learning at your own pace!
Important: If your Coursera account shows prolonged inactivity, your license may be reassigned to allow another student to participate. Licenses expire at the end of the academic term; however, you can resubmit a ticket to have your license renewed.
