First Generation Support

A first-generation student is defined as a student who neither parent/guardian has earned a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university.

First-generation students are a vital part of the Roanoke College community, and the institution is committed to ensuring they feel supported and empowered. Through specialized programs, mentorship, and academic guidance, the college works to remove barriers and create opportunities for students who are the first in their families to pursue higher education.

The Roanoke Promise reflects the commitment of the college to support first-generation students as they navigate the college experience.
