Arriving at Roanoke College with a clear calling to pastoral ministry, he quickly became an engaged member of the Campus Christian Community. He earned his B.A. in 1975 and was once again recognized as valedictorian.
Following his time at Roanoke, Chris pursued a Master of Divinity at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania completing his degree in 1979. He went on to serve as a distinguished leader in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, pastoring Epiphany Lutheran Church for over 30 years. From 2014 to 2017, he continued his service to the church as Assistant to the Bishop of the Virginia Synod.
In recognition of his achievements and commitment to his alma mater, Chris received the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1992.
Terry Koehler Price was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and attended Archbishop Keough High School. Drawn to the close-knit, coeducational environment of Roanoke College, she enrolled and became actively involved in the Campus Christian Community.
Terry later transferred to the University of Virginia School of Nursing, where she earned her B.S.N. in 1976. Following her degree, she held numerous roles in the healthcare field, serving at institutions such as the Lutheran Home in Gettysburg, Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley, Annie M. Warner Memorial Hospital, Riverside Hospital in Newport News, and Cambridge Manor.
Chris and Terry have devoted their lives to service, community, and their alma mater. They opened their home as a foster family for over 30 children through the Children’s Home Society of Virginia and Richmond Social Services. They are the proud parents of Katie and Megan and loving grandparents to Stella and Nicholas.
Throughout the years, Chris and Terry have remained deeply engaged with Roanoke College, always seeking ways to give back and stay connected. They are dedicated members of the Richmond Alumni Chapter and served in leadership roles with the Richmond Campaign Steering Committee, Parent Leadership Council, Associates Society, Monument Club, Cornerstone Society, and Society of 1842. Chris also served 22 years on the Board of Trustees, earning the title of Trustee Emeritus in recognition of his service.
Believing deeply in the power of education and student success, Chris and Terry established an endowed scholarship in their family’s name. They also made a significant philanthropic contribution to the new Center for Student Success, dedicated in memory of their beloved daughter, Katie. Their hope is that this center will provide vital support for all students who learn differently and need additional resources to thrive.
Their legacy at Roanoke College and beyond is one of generosity, faith, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference.
