CSSR x Creative Time: Memorial Open House
Contact: Mrs. Lacey K. Leonard, leonard@roanoke.eduThe Center of Studying Structures of Race and Creative Time will be hosting a "Memorial Open House" to present student research and a guided walking tour on the history of enslavement at Roanoke College. This event precedes planning for the school’s commission of a new memorial commemorating the enslaved people whose forced labor built the College.
CSSR staff, researchers, and Creative Time staff will be present to share out information related to the CSSR's ongoing Genealogy of Slavery Project, as well as the forthcoming memorial to enslaved laborers. The Open House will provide space for information sharing and collective reflection on the ramifications of these research findings as well as the coming memorial for present and future Valley communities.
