Olin Recital Hall
Teresa Gereaux, gereaux@roanoke.edu false MM/DD/YYYYThe School of Communication, Culture, and the Arts present visiting classical music artists Nikki Pet and Lyndon Ji in a multimedia performance. This event leverages AI and innovative technology to amplify human artistry and create immersive, enchanting experiences for audiences.
In a combined talk and recital, Nikki Pet, a clarinetist and visual artist specializing in chamber music and multimedia performance, and pianist Lyndon Ji, a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts at the Yale School of Music, show how as performers and entrepreneurs, they use technology and multimedia to enhance their performances and make classical music accessible to all audiences.
In particular, Pet and Ji will feature Live Video Accompaniment, a software developed by performer Nikki Pet’s startup, that listens to live performers and adjusts synchronized animation to flex and follow live performers’ rubato and timing changes. The performance features music by Tailleferre, Bernstein, Stravinsky, Schumann, and an arrangement of Schubert’s “Erlkönig” song.
