Monday, June 19, 2023, is Juneteenth, a day commemorating the end of slavery in the United States and celebrated since the late 1800s.

In 2020, Roanoke College officially recognized Juneteenth for the first time in the College’s history.  The College is acknowledging and celebrating Juneteenth again this year with a Juneteenth Celebration and Cookout for faculty, staff, and students.

The event will be held in Wortmann Ballroom in the Colket Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Office of  Community, Diversity & Inclusion, the Center for Spiritual Life and Campus Ministries, and the Center for Studying Structures of Race.

Please RSVP by Tuesday, June 13th at 12:00 pm
