Teresa Gereaux, gereaux@roanoke.edu false MM/DD/YYYYThe Center for Studying Structures of Race invites you to the third annual Virginia Conference on Race's Keynote Lecture. This year, we welcome Professor Renée Cummings to discuss her work on racial justice and artificial intelligence.
Professor Cummings, a VentureBeat AI Innovator Award winner, is an AI, data and tech ethicist who was named the first Data Activist-in-Residence at the University of Virginia’s School of Data Science, where she is a Professor of Practice in Data Science.
She is also a Non-Resident Senior Fellow in Governance Studies with the Center for Technology Innovation at the Brookings Institute as well as co-director of the AI Equity Lab at the Brookings Institute.
Her research focuses on augmented collective intelligence, integrating virtual reality into everyday systems, data justice, data trauma, algorithmic policing, surveillance technology, AI for criminal justice reform and more. Her work extends to include disinformation, democracy, representation, identity, and governance.
