Which HEXS Program is Right for You?

The primary difference between the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) programs relate to program structure. Traditional Bachelor of Science programs tend to have more required courses than Bachelor of Arts programs, and are often developed to prepare students for graduate studies or clinical degrees (e.g., Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Athletic Training, Medical School, etc.). Bachelor of Arts programs, on the other hand, traditionally provide more flexibility in the major, requiring fewer courses and increasing student choice over major requirements.

  • If you plan to pursue a profession that requires graduate-level education, the B.S. is a great choice for you - most of your graduate school prerequisite courses have been built into the program.
  • If you’re unsure of your professional path or if you plan to pursue a professional pathway that does not require graduate education, the B.A. will allow you to take more courses in other majors to diversify your educational background.
