We will be kicking off the New Year with Senior Care and Caring for the Caregiver panel discussion on Tuesday, January 23rd at 12 p.m. in the Wortmann Ballroom. During this time you will be able to gather information and ask questions to four health care professionals. They will cover topics regarding support and guidance, medical management, lifestyle, and when and where to seek assistance. This session will help to provide a proactive approach to caring for yourself and those in your care. All benefit-eligible employees and spouses covered by the college’s medical plans are welcome to attend.
Health Coaching is also available as you start to implement your goals for 2018! Kate Smith, your health advocate, is available Tuesday, January 23rd and Thursday, February 1st for coaching appointments. Please contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org or (540)855-7784 to schedule an appointment.
The annual Junior Achievement Bowl-a-thon takes place the last two weekends in February (Roanoke College teams will bowl on 2/17, 2-5pm). All funds raised will support the educational programming of Junior Achievement SWVA with public school students locally. This would be a fun way to put together teams of students, faculty and/or staff - perhaps for some friendly interdepartmental competition between faculty & staff vs students - or departmental teams competing against each other. We're down to LAST CALL for bowling teams, if you're interested. Karen Hagele in Career Services is organizing a Roanoke College team(s) and has details, so please contact her ASAP. I hope you'll consider participating!
Additionally, there are many opportunities for faculty, staff and/or students to become involved in teaching some of the lessons for Junior Achievement....no experience required....all materials provided...an excellent service learning project for students. Some of our athletes already are doing this and having a great time. If you're interested, I can share details and options.
Thanks in advance for considering these opportunities!
