Looking for a job can feel like a full-time task. The PLACE staff can help student’s design an individual strategy and customized career search that meets goals, timelines and expectations. Building student confidence through work place readiness skills, students will develop professional networking skills, professional awareness through research and exploration of industry-specific job sites and detailed training through resume editing, interview practicing and special events designed to aid in overall professional development. Our staff has well established relationships with employers and alumni throughout the world and then connect them to Roanoke students through in-person and virtual events.

Whether part-time or full-time, sometimes the job search can feel like a job in itself. Handshake

Roanoke College's online tool for internship and job listings.  Students and alumni create their own profiles to share with potential employers.  This national platform hosts listings from thousands of employers targeted at college students and recent graduates, Handshake puts opportunities at your fingertips. Please note, individuals do not need to create a new account, Roanoke College username and password is all that is needed to enter this site.

Indeed

One of the most convenient ways to search online.  This site searches organizations' websites, making your search that much easier. Add in your skills or interests to help narrow down your options. Indeed serves as a comprehensive online search and is beneficial as a “jumping point” to countless company websites and job openings

LinkedIn

More than just networking, LinkedIn is a great resource to research companies, locate alumni contacts, and improve your online presence. Additionally, students are encouraged to join special interest and professional groups in order to develop best practice skills and become familiar with industry-specific vocabulary. It is important to note that because LinkedIn is a professional networking site, it is okay to “link” with people you do not know personally, but have similar professional interests and backgrounds.
