Information Technology, along with the Alumni Office, is pleased to allow you to keep your current Roanoke College email address after you graduate.
What is my permanent Roanoke College email address?
Simple. It's whatever your email address is now. Potential employers, family & friends can keep sending email to your current email address. They won't notice any change.
What is my email quota after I graduate?
Your email quota will remain the same as it currently is.
What is my permanent Roanoke College email password?
Simple again. It's whatever your email password is now. If you want to change your password in the future, login to MyAccount and select the second option on the taskbar, "Change Password".
How can I read messages sent to this address after graduation?
Just go to MyMail to login, or you can visit roanoke.edu/inside and select the 'Email' option in the top taskbar.
What's the catch?
You'll want to check your email frequently or forward it to another email address (see the next question) so that your mailbox doesn't fill up. Once your mailbox is full, those who send you e-mail will receive a message stating that your account is over quota (and consequently their message will not be delivered to your inbox).
How do I forward my email?
If you use another email address regularly, it's probably best to forward your Roanoke College email to that account. Login to your email account online, in the top right-hand corner there is a gear icon, select the gear to open up 'Settings'. All the way down there is a category, "Your app settings" where you should click on 'Mail'. This will open another new window with a list of options, one of the options is "Forwarding", where you can select 'enable forwarding'. On the bottom of this page is a box that says "forward my email to:" type in the email address you wish to have your emails forwarded to and click on the option that say "keep a copy of forwarded messages in Outlook Web App". Finally, click on "start forwarding". Your emails will now be forwarded to the email address you selected!
What if I don't want a permanent Roanoke College email address?
No action on your part is necessary. Simply don't check your RC mail using a browser or set up message forwarding. We encourage you to update your record on the Roanoke College Alumni Web Page at:
Maroons Online. You can enter your preferred e-mail address and mailing address so you will receive the RC Electronic Newsletter, the RC Alumni Magazine and Newsletters, as well as information on alumni events.
