Political Science Program
Analytical. Engaged. Transformative.
The Political Science program at Roanoke College prepares students to become thoughtful, responsible citizens capable of critically analyzing politics and governance. Through a structured exploration of the five major subfields – American Politics, Political Theory, International Relations, Comparative Politics, and Political Methodology – students gain a comprehensive understanding of political systems and ideas. This journey equips them with the tools to apply relevant concepts, theories, and methods to real-world political challenges, fostering both intellectual depth and analytical skill.
Our classes encourage active engagement and problem-solving, allowing students to connect political theory with practical policy-making. The program emphasizes the importance of examining governance and citizenship on both personal and global levels. Graduates leave with the insight and expertise to influence public policy, and many go on to successful careers as lawyers, judges, policy experts, professors, and political advisors.
