A degree in political science can take you in many directions. We encourage students to begin thinking early about their long-term goals and to discuss them with their academic advisors and PLACE.
Internships, independent study research projects, and study away can all help students identify their goals. Faculty advisors are happy to provide recommendations of coursework and experiences that will help students secure jobs or admission to professional or graduate school programs.
The American Political Science Association is another place to find information on career paths for political science students.
Recent political science graduates have gone on to graduate school, law school, or to jobs in politics, non-profit agencies, local, state, and national government, the military, law enforcement, and the criminal justice system.
