Transfer Student Admissions
We make transferring simple—so you can focus on where you’re going next.
Ready for a better fit?
Roanoke College gives transfer students what many larger schools can’t: personal support, meaningful opportunities, and a community that feels like home.
- Be more than a number. Small classes mean real relationships with your professors.
- Turn knowledge into experience. Hands-on learning prepares you for careers and graduate school.
- Community matters. Here, you’re part of a supportive, connected campus where you belong.
How will my credits transfer?
Credit for academic work completed elsewhere will be accepted by official transcripts from accredited colleges and universities if the courses are appropriate to the academic curriculum of Roanoke College.
A minimum of 17 units must be earned at Roanoke, which is approximately half of the total required for graduation and is usually equivalent to two years.

- The Admission With Advanced Standing (AWAS) form must be completed by the college you are currently attending or the most recent college attended.
- Complete the online application.
"Roanoke College does a really good job of letting students explore their interests and fostering those interests. My professors were able to help me narrow down my future goals in the cybersecurity field. They also taught me to be adaptable, which will be important in a field where there are always going to be new technologies."
Garrett Boykin '26 - Garrett transferred to Roanoke College from Virginia Western Community College to pursue a degree in computer science. When he compared the cost of attending Roanoke College to the cost of going to a large public university, he was surprised to find that Roanoke's generous financial aid, paired with his ability to be a commuter, made Roanoke less expensive than the other school.
