Transfer Student Checklist

Welcome to the Maroon community!
Transfer students are a special part of our community and we can't wait to help support you in continuing your college journey! Below, you'll find checklists to help you stay on track for a successful transition to Roanoke College.
You can start many tasks as soon as you create your Roanoke College password and account (Important First Steps). Some items, like your student information forms, take more time to complete. Tackle the lists in manageable phases to avoid rushing before deadlines.
We'll also send out email reminders and other helpful updates along the way, so be sure to keep an eye on your Roanoke email. If you have any questions, please let us know. We're here for you!
- IT Questions: Helpdesk, 540-375-2225 (Option 2)
- General Questions: New Student Orientation, orientation@roanoke.edu
Important First Steps
Create Your Account
- Set up your password: Click the "Reset Password" button. You will receive a text message with a one-time code. The new password you pick will be used across multiple platforms and apps.
- Set up multifactor authentication to keep your account secure: Get security codes sent to you on your phone or Roanoke College's Microsoft Authenticator App.
- Set up your email app: Email is one of the most important ways to get campus messages. Stay connected by activating the Outlook email app on your phone and turning on notifications.
NOTE: As a Roanoke College student, you agree to comply with our standards and policies on technology use. With that in mind, be sure to keep your account information private.
When setting up multifactor authentication, use your (the student's) personal cell phone or email. Using a family member's device is in violation of IT policies and will create challenges in the long run.
New Student Tasks
Complete Your Student Profile
- Send final transcript(s) to the Admissions Office (admissions@roanoke.edu)
Official transcripts are to be paid for and sent directly from your institution's transcript service (e.g., Parchment) electronically to admissions@roanoke.edu. Please note that you must pay for official transcripts, and unofficial transcripts are simply copies submitted by the student. Unofficial transcripts cannot be used to finalize transfer credit.
- Fill out important information in your enrollment profile portal. Make sure all information is accurate. You may want help from your parents, guardians or other supporters:
- Student Information Forms
- Academic Integrity Module
- Academic Integrity, Student Code of Conduct & Sexual Misconduct Statement Agreements
- Financial Responsibility Agreement
- Health Forms
- CliftonStrengths Assessment
- Maroon Card ID Photo
Check out this printable version of your checklist!
Complete Your Maroon Modules
- New students are required to complete the Maroon Modules - an online orientation - before August 15. The modules will cover everything you'll need to know before arriving to campus. As you move through the modules, you'll also want to keep an eye on your New Student Checklist located in your Enrollment Profile. Think of the checklist and these modules as working together - the modules will give you the “why” and “how,” while the checklist walks you through the “what” you need to complete. You should use your Roanoke credentials to log into the modules. Please contact orientation@roanoke.edu with any questions.
Sign up for Ready for Roanoke Days: Orientation to Campus
- We will be offering four, optional Ready for Roanoke Days in the summer of 2026. During Ready for Roanoke Days, you will have the opportunity to meet fellow new Maroons, connect with campus resources, explore academic and extracurricular interests, and more! We highly encourage your attendance in order to set a strong foundation for your arrival in August. Each day will have a separate freshmen and transfer schedule, with July 18th being a solely transfer student schedule. We are offering the following dates:
June 26
July 11
July 17
July 18 (Transfer student-only)
- Stay tuned for the link to sign up for a Ready for Roanoke Day. We hope to see you on campus soon!
Start Your Housing Registration
- Sign your housing agreement: You'll need the student ID# previously emailed to you in your acceptance letter to complete this step.
Course Registration
- The transfer academic advisor will reach out to schedule an appointment with you to register for classes after you have sent your final transcript(s) to Admissions. Please note that students will not be registered for classes until their official transcript has been received and processed. If you experience any issues requesting your transcript or have questions about how to submit it, please contact Admissions at admissions@roanoke.edu. Keep an eye on your RC email to schedule your appointment promptly. If you do not pick an appointment, your schedule will be made for you. Please reach out to bos@roanoke.edu with any questions.
Connect with Accessible Education Services (optional)
- Students with disabilities who need accommodations in their housing or classes should contact the Office of Accessible Education Services. The office is open year-round for requests, but contacting them earlier helps create a smoother transition.
Before August 4th, 2026
Complete Your Safety Training
- You're required to complete two online training modules through Vector LMS: AlcoholEdu for College and Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates. Look for a message in your Roanoke email with instructions. Make sure to finish each section of both courses to receive credit. The trainings MUST be completed on a computer - they will not work properly on a phone, or personal device. Please contact Lauren Wood at wood@roanoke.edu with any questions.
Before August 10th, 2026
Manage Your E-Bill and E-Pay
- Check your billing statement: Roanoke uses e-billing to pay for tuition, fees, room and board. Statements are uploaded to Self Service for students and to person proxy for parents/guardians (optional, see below). Your fall term statement will be available starting July 10. Payment is due by August 10.
- Set up person proxy (optional): Student records are protected by The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974. You can choose to grant a third party, such as your parents, access to your records through the person proxy feature. That authorization allows someone to view your information and discuss your bills with the Business Office. This step can be completed starting June 15.
Textbooks, Parking & Move-In Prep
- Get your textbooks: Books can be purchased or rented (new or used, physical books or ebooks) through our online bookstore. Your account will be pre-loaded with a list of your required and optional course materials.
- Get a parking decal: If you're bringing a vehicle to campus, you'll need to purchase a parking decal. This option is available starting August 1. Decals will be delivered to your campus mailbox.
- Get your Mobile Maroon Card: Download our app (Transact eAccounts Mobile) to set up your Mobile Maroon Card. This is a digital student ID that you’ll use daily for meal plan swipes, residence hall access and more. This step can be completed after your Maroon ID photo is both uploaded and approved. Be sure to complete that process first.
- Get excited! Residential students will move in on August 22nd, 2026 followed by Welcome Week from August 22-26.
- Got a question about housing or check-in times? Contact reslife@roanoke.edu.
- Got a question about Orientation? Contact orientation@roanoke.edu.
Residential Students
Complete Your Housing Registration
- Complete your housing application through the Online Housing Portal using your Roanoke College credentials. During the summer, you will receive a room selection timeslot that will let you know when you can log into the Online Housing Portal during the first week of July to select your housing.
Students who do not complete an application by June will have an application created for them so they can be sent a room selection timeslot. Please contact reslife@roanoke.edu or 540-375-2308 with any questions or concerns.
