Herdman is the first woman to lead the Central Appalachian Cherokee Tribe. She's an experienced educator who's traveled the country studying and documenting Native American history. She's also an accomplished martial arts instructor with a 7th-degree black belt. A portion of her program will include a review of basic self-defense techniques.
