Jon Murrill ’09, an accomplished artist who has painted eye-popping murals in the Roanoke Valley and beyond, will paint a mural at Maroon Village and deliver an Oct. 24 lecture about public art in Olin Recital Hall. "Freedom is Not a Metaphor” is an exhibition by Richmond artist Sandy Williams IV, who was selected last year to design a memorial to enslaved laborers at Roanoke College. The exhibition will open on Friday, Sept. 13, with a reception in Smoyer Gallery from 6-8 p.m.
