Jon Murrill, Charles Price and the Roanoke Cultural Endowment are this year’s recipients of the Perry F. Kendig Awards. 

Coaches said the upgraded training facility, which will serve all of the college’s 600+ student-athletes, is a “breath of fresh air.”

Jon Murrill ’09, an accomplished artist who has painted eye-popping murals in the Roanoke Valley and beyond, will paint a mural at Maroon Village and deliver an Oct. 24 lecture about public art in Olin Recital Hall. The final interior beam of the center’s new building was put in place July 23.

Information sessions and tours are available at Roanoke College every day during the designated week, and the Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia will award Amazon gift cards to several lucky students who visit a participating college.

Roanoke College is naming its 178-year-old Administration Building after Dr. M. Paul Capp ’52, an accomplished radiologist and educator who has dedicated most of his 95 years to leading and serving others.

"Freedom is Not a Metaphor” is an exhibition by Richmond artist Sandy Williams IV, who was selected last year to design a memorial to enslaved laborers at Roanoke College. The exhibition will open on Friday, Sept. 13, with a reception in Smoyer Gallery from 6-8 p.m.

A series of events related to the U.S. Constitution, democracy and freedom will be held on campus this month.
