Kristen Wicander will be teaching English to children ages 6-12 in La Rioja, Spain. In addition, the Spanish and psychology major will be teaching social studies, science, and American culture.

Savannah Scott '17 has accepted a Fulbright study/research award to study at the University of Technology of Vienna, Austria. Scott, who is from Huntington, N.Y., is a member of the Honors Program and a biology major, with minors in chemistry and French. She will be studying water quality in Austria from October 2017 to June 2018.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program chose six Roanoke students as finalists for study, research and English teaching assistantships around the globe.

Roanoke senior Rebecca Hudon has been named a Rhodes Scholar finalist -- Roanoke's first Rhodes finalist in more than 100 years. She interviews with the regional Rhodes committee in Indianapolis, later this week.

Anna Ford will study at ISEP affiliate Kansai Gaidai University in Osaka, Japan. 

Sarah Morris '16 will work full-time for a year as Assistant Language Teachers in the public school system.

Dr. Martha Kuchar, of the English department, will spend the fall in Eastern Europe, marking her second time as a Fulbright Scholar.
