The new issue of Roanoke College magazine chronicles how a group of Roanoke faculty, students and alumni - equipped with knowledge and a desire to share it - helped Great Smoky Mountains National Park visitors safely view this summer's rare total solar eclipse.

For 31 years, Roanoke College students have gained real-world experiences in the nation's capital through what is now known as the Lutheran College Washington Semester Program. 

On Monday, Nov. 13, students, faculty and staff gathered, along with many local alumni and friends, in Kerr Stadium to create a giant 175 photo opp. Wearing their Maroon gear, they stood in the prepainted "175" formation on the field. A drone was flown overhead to capture a bird's eye view of the field.

A new living community has been created for students interested in environmental issues.

Maroon Matinee is a new YouTube channel created by the Student Activities office to showcase student films.

The Roanoke College Baseball team captured the attention of the entire RC Community and baseball world with a run to the 2017 NCAA Division III World Series in Appleton, Wisconsin. 

The new Eco House community, located on the first floor of Crawford Hall, will house students who are passionate about the environment and want to learn more about environmental sustainability. 

The class of 2017 has nine seniors joining the Student Affairs Media Arts Hall of Fame in recognition for their creative contributions to the college. The students' names will be featured on the Garrett Student Media Lounge Wall of Fame. 

Salem, Va. - Bishop James Mauney, the retiring bishop of the Virginia Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, will be the featured speaker at Commencement on Saturday, May 6. Approximately 441 graduates will be among the Class of 2017. Commencement will be streamed live, and the link can be found at roanoke.edu/commencement.
