Welcome To Maroon Village
This forward-thinking housing community puts Roanoke College at the center of a growing trend in eco-friendly development seen in upscale lofts, tiny homes, hotels, art galleries and more. Constructed from repurposed shipping containers, Maroon Village offers a greener way to live without sacrificing comfort.
Inside, modern interiors welcome students home to coveted, single rooms with connected bathrooms shared by just one other room (Jack-and-Jill bathrooms). In 2026-2027, Maroon Village will be one of only a few residence halls offering all single rooms. Designed with sustainability in mind, the buildings feature energy-efficient designs that meet the highest Energy Star standards, creating a comfortable and environmentally conscious living space.

The Details
Individual rooms span 16.5 feet x 7 feet with 8-foot-high ceilings. Each unit has been fully renovated to offer a comfortable, modern living environment. One ADA unit is available for selection.
The housing community is located on the north end of the parking lot overlooking Alumni Field. Parking for residents is available in the same lot immediately next to the village.
The Features
Each room comes equipped with wi-fi and state-of-the-art heating and air conditioning with individual, in-room thermostat controls. Rooms are fully furnished with desks, chairs, wardrobes, beds, a vanity with sink, built-in shelving, and window blinds.
Maroon Village also offers a common room with TV screen, seating, and kitchenette complete with refrigerator, microwave and sink. Three laundry rooms with free machines (12 washers and 12 dryers total) are on site. Units are arranged around a central courtyard that offers open green space for a true village environment encouraging community and connection.
