Fall Welcome Week

2020 Opening Day: Saturday, August 15 Residential, commuters, and transfer students are all included!

The health and safety of our students is our number one priority.  As such, Welcome Week has been adjusted this year to include both virtual as well as socially-distanced in-person programming.  Much of what we’ve done has historically has been in smaller groups, and now new spaces have been secured to accommodate distancing. What has in the past been two large ceremonies will change their formats, but not their content. One will be repeated to accommodate smaller groups and the other streamed. Some of it may seem a bit restrictive, such as assigned dining times or locations, however the hope is for us all to practice the new flow of campus and enjoy getting familiar with Roanoke College.

Move-In Information

Monday, August 3rd, all residential students received an email to their RC account regarding the move-in time slots, process, and a diagram to help guide your drive around campus.

Student Schedule

Student schedules are individualized to the student.  The Wednesday before Opening Day, schedules will be available in Roanoke College's EllucianGo app.

Who is the FACULTY/STAFF LEADER?
Each OGroup has a professional faculty or staff, called an OMentor.  It might be the professor for your class or it might be a staff member on campus.  Their role is to assist in your initial adjustment to campus and build get you started on building connections.

When should my family head HOME?
Every family is different and we respect those decisions.  Some families leave within an hour or so of dropping off because they have a long drive.  Some families stay in town to get familiar with the area.  We ask that students start heading to their Orientation Group locations at 6:30pm on Saturday, August 15.  Locations will be in the EllucianGo App.

What does the rest of the semester and year look like?  Where can I find a SCHOOL CALENDAR?
College schedules are made well in advance and if changes are ever made they can be found on Roanoke College's Academic Calendars website.  It's hard to make plans during a pandemic, so this is a page to bookmark!  Fun tip: Under normal circumstances, graduation is always the first Saturday in May. Graduation for the Class of 2024 is May 4th!
