Dr. Love's Research Lab
Research Interests
Dr. Love has research interests in clinical and counseling related topics. Specific topics he is currently interested in include:
● Predictors of multicultural competency
● First generation college students’ adaptation to college
● Prescription opioid abuse in rural communities
● The use of tabletop role playing games in developing social skills in adolescents and young adults on the autism spectrum.
What Dr. Love is looking for in a Research Assistant
Dr. Love is looking for students who are interested in clinical and counseling related topics. Some training in research methods is preferred, however, it is not required, and students should be in good academic standing. He would prefer students who would work in the lab for multiple semesters, although he is open to students at any level. Additionally, he would aim to have long-term research assistants who could train and supervise new assistants.
Current Research
Dr. Love is currently researching therapist variables. More specifically, he is evaluating the qualities of a therapist that predict competency in treating LGBT clients. This research involves looking at individual personal therapy and current forms of training to work with different populations.
