Roanoke named a leading college for transfer student success

Roanoke College has been recognized as a national leader in supporting transfer students, earning a place on the prestigious Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society’s Transfer Honor Roll.
The annual honor roll identifies colleges with exceptional success at creating pathways that help community college transfer students earn their bachelor’s degrees. Campuses are evaluated on dozens of data points including:
- Transfer student success rates
- Campus friendliness and sense of belonging
- Availability of need-based and merit-based aid
- Acceptance of transfer credits
More than 1,000 colleges were evaluated this year. Only one in four were selected for the Transfer Honor Roll.
“These colleges have demonstrated that transfer student success is not accidental. It is a strategic priority,” Phi Theta Kappa President and CEO Lynn Tincher-Ladner said.
“Successful transfer happens when institutions intentionally design policies, practices, and campus cultures that help students thrive after they arrive.”
Phi Theta Kappa is the leading honor society for high-performing students at two-year colleges. It champions opportunities for community college students through scholarships, leadership development, and transfer and career pathway resources.
