After two years of exceptional leadership as co-chair of the Parent Leadership Council, Nicole (Brewer) Terrill ’95 has been named a voting member of the Roanoke College Board of Trustees.
Terrill holds a B.A. in English and sociology from Roanoke College and a Master of Public Health from Colombia University’s Mailman School. She has a working background in healthcare administration, project management and education, and was a visiting instructor in Roanoke College’s Sociology and Public Health Studies Department during the past academic year.
In addition, Terrill has served on the board of directors for a variety of community organizations, including the Roanoke Adolescent Health Partnership, YMCA of Roanoke Valley, Junior League of the Roanoke Valley and the Roanoke Valley Garden Club. She currently serves on the Pediatric Family Advisory Council for The Johns Hopkins Hospital and is a senior warden at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Roanoke.

From 2022-24, Terrill and her husband, Greg Terrill ’94, served as co-chairs of the Parent Leadership Council (PLC), which made them ex-officio (non-voting) members of the board of trustees. In addition, Nicole Terrill served on the college’s Strategic Planning Team and on multiple search committees for cabinet-level positions. The Terrills are the parents of Nora Terrill ’24, who graduated in May with a degree in environmental studies and received the Environmental Studies Research Award.
“Roanoke College is particularly adept in its cultivation of learning, experiences and strong friendships,” Terrill said. “The college's students are encouraged to realize the profound impact they can make in their communities and the world. I am proud to take part in continuing this legacy of education.”
As the Terrills complete their leadership cycle on the PLC, two new co-chairs are stepping up to lead the group. Michael and Anne Cherry of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, are the parents of Jacob Cherry ’26, a business administration major at Roanoke.
Anne Cherry holds a degree in equine management from Wilson College. After a career in software implementation for warehousing, logistics and health care, she joined the staff at Gettysburg College in 2007. She is currently the assistant vice president for advancement systems and prospect research at Gettysburg. Michael Cherry is a realtor with Re/Max of Gettysburg specializing in property management, investment, and residential and commercial real estate.
The Cherrys enjoy fundraising for the organizations their children have been involved in, including the Roanoke College wrestling team, which recently clinched the ODAC title. In addition to their son, they are the parents of a daughter, Grace, who will graduate high school this year and plans to attend the American College of Greece in Athens.
