The criminal justice and sociology double major was nominated for the award by his classmates and professors in the fall semester of the program.

Ten students are living and working in D.C. this semester as part of the Lutheran College Washington Semester program that Roanoke College helped create.

Olivia Kitt ’20 has been selected by fellow students, faculty and staff of the Lutheran College Washington Semester to receive the Dr. Nancy D. Joyner Spirit Award.

Linnea Stewart has been awarded a Fulbright to study and conduct research on bird populations on organic and non-organic farms in India.

Fifteen Roanoke students are interning in Washington now. Three who were assigned to shuttered government agencies volunteered at nonprofits providing food for furloughed workers until they could begin their internship.

During a summer internship with the Global Owl Project, Julia Mello ’19 was featured in an episode of “Oregon Field Guide” about the organization’s work with the owls and their research.

This year marks Roanoke College's 32nd year of providing life-changing experiences in the nation's capital through the Lutheran College Washington Semester program. Thirteen students are participating in the program this fall.
