Cannabis Studies
Available as a major, minor, certification or continuing education courses
Our program, which is the first of its kind in Virginia, will allow graduates to capitalize on a rapidly growing industry. The core curriculum for Roanoke’s Cannabis Studies Program will educate students in the botany and history of cannabis, as well as the policy issues surrounding the industry. We offer two majors (B.S. in Cannabis Science and B.S. in Cannabis Social Justice and Policy), a minor in Cannabis Studies and continuing education courses and certifications.
Cannabis Degrees

The cannabis science degree focuses on the science of the industry, exploring botany, biology and chemistry.

This cannabis degree focuses on the governmental policy around cannabis legislation, giving students perspective on the history of the plant, its regulation and prohibition in the U.S. and around the world, and the consequences for different populations.

A minor in Cannabis Studies provides a student with a general understanding of the cannabis industry, its history and social impact. This minor ties nicely to many areas of study across campus because of the vast connections in our culture.

Cannabis News at Roanoke
Roanoke College aims to guide the commonwealth to improve understanding and application of knowledge around cannabis, and it strives to be a national leader in establishing a standard scientific, public policy and business education for this developing industry. In addition, college leaders will work alongside community leaders and the Office of Campus Safety to strengthen drug education in the community.
We offer two majors (B.S. in Cannabis Science and B.S. in Cannabis Social Justice and Policy) and a minor in Cannabis Studies. We also provide continuing education cannabis courses and cannabis certificate programs.
