Tuition Remission/Tuition Exchange
After one year of service in a benefit-eligible regular position, employees, their spouses and eligible dependent children become eligible for tuition benefits at Roanoke College. Tuition benefits consist of Tuition Remission (at Roanoke College) and Tuition Exchange (for dependent children only at other colleges participating in the available exchange networks). Whether you or an eligible family member wants to enroll full-time, part-time, taking classes for a grade or auditing a class, the following application procedures apply.
To apply for either tuition benefit, the employee must fill out the appropriate internal form for this benefit by December 31st of the year prior to the academic year in which they are requesting benefits. Please keep in mind that this benefit is not a guarantee of admittance to a school. The prospective student must apply with Admissions and follow the normal application and registration processes of Roanoke College or the exchange institution. Each fall, the Department of Human Resources will host a workshop about using these benefits and it will be publicized in the Daily Announcements prior to the event.
For Tuition Remission benefits, the employee, spouse or eligible dependent child must complete the Tuition Remission form by December 31st of the year prior to the academic year in which they are requesting benefits.and follow the normal application and registration processes of Roanoke College.
For Tuition Exchange benefits, eligible dependent children may apply to any of the three exchange networks to which the College belongs. All tuition exchange scholarships are not guaranteed but are competitive awards based on a limited number of available spots. To apply, the employee must complete the Tuition Exchange form no later than December 31st of the year prior to the academic year in which they are requesting benefits. Be sure to research guidelines and deadlines for each member school to avoid missing any deadlines.
