What’s Next? Planning for after RC

The strong skills in data analysis, health communication research methods, community engagement, and critical thinking developed by our Public Health students prepare them for both graduate studies and a wide range of careers in health-related fields. With support from PLACE (hyperlink), our career exploration office, and Public Health Studies faculty, students are encouraged to explore internships, graduate programs, and career opportunities that align with their interests.

Public Health Studies majors pursue careers in diverse areas, including:

• Local, state, and federal governmental agencies, working in areas such as public health education, epidemiology, environmental health, health policy, and health program administration.
•  Nonprofit organizations, advancing community health initiatives, conducting outreach, or managing public health campaigns.
• Healthcare organizations, contributing in roles such as health administration, patient advocacy, quality improvement, and healthcare research.
• Policy and research organizations, working on health policy analysis, health data management, program evaluation, or health promotion.
• Schools, universities, and community organizations, engaging in health education and wellness programming.
• Private sector companies, working on corporate wellness programs, occupational health, or consulting.

A degree in Public Health Studies from Roanoke College provides a strong foundation for working to improve health outcomes at local, national, and global levels, and for advancing to graduate programs in fields such as public health, health administration, epidemiology, environmental health, and health policy.
