Break FAQ

Will the residence halls be locked during breaks?

• Yes. Card entry access is disabled during breaks. Only students who submit Break Stay Requests will have access.

Is there a charge for staying during breaks?

• Winter Break, May Term/May Break, and Summer Break involve nightly charges. 

Will the ResLife office be open during the breaks?

• We are open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. except during staff holidays.

What if I want to stay for a few days, then leave, and come back early? Can I do that?

• Yes, you can stay for whichever nights of break you would like as long as campus is open. On your Break Stay Request Form please specify the dates. 

Will there be staff available? What do I do if there's an emergency?

• Community Leaders (CLs) and an Assistant Director (AD) on duty will be available on the duty-phones.
• For emergencies, residents should call Campus Safety at (540)375-2310.

Is the Commons be open during breaks?

• The Commons schedule is always announced before each break. Call Dining Services if you have questions at (540)375-2328.
