Transfer Advising

Transfer Students

Whether you began your academic journey at Roanoke College or another institution, we are pleased to support you as you continue your education here as a transfer student.

Roanoke College defines a transfer student as anyone who has taken college classes at another college or university after finishing high school and is now planning to continue their education at a new institution. This does not include dual enrollment courses taken during high school.

 
Getting Started

After you have been admitted, you will receive a welcome email at the personal email address provided in your application. Please allow up to one week from your admission date for this email to arrive.

This message will include your:

  • Student ID number
  • Roanoke username
  • Roanoke email address
  • Instructions for creating your password 

Once you have created your password, please visit the Transfer Student Checklist on our website and complete the "Important First Steps." These steps include:

  • Accessing your Roanoke email
  • Setting up multi-factor authentication
  • Downloading the Outlook email application 

You may also receive additional communications from Logan Tyler (tyler@roanoke.edu) via your Roanoke email account. Please check your email account regularly.

 
Next Steps

As you progress through the Transfer Student Checklist, complete all items listed under "New Student Tasks," including:

  • Submitting official transcripts from all previously attended institutions
  • Completing your enrollment profile 

Please note that transfer students cannot be registered for classes until all official transcripts have been received and reviewed.

Once your transcripts have been processed, you will be contacted by Abbi Bos (bos@roanoke.edu) to schedule an advising appointment. During this meeting, you will review important information and complete course registration.

Please be aware that transfer registration occurs on designated dates. As a result, registration may not take place immediately, depending on when your materials are received and finalized.

  • Fall 2026 registration for transfer students opens Monday, June 1, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.
