TMEIC and Roanoke College are proud to announce a new partnership to invest in students who dream of a career in the high-demand, high-wage field of engineering.
TMEIC Scholars is a commitment to support the future of our students with scholarships, internships and professional mentoring. The multi-part initiative will culminate in a guaranteed job interview at TMEIC for graduating scholars.
“TMEIC is proud to partner with Roanoke College to support the development of local engineering talent," said Manmeet S. Bhatia, president and CEO of TMEIC Corporation Americas. "The TMEIC Scholars program reflects our commitment to workforce growth, educational opportunity, and long-term investment in the region. We look forward to helping students gain meaningful experience and contribute to the future of innovation."
TMEIC is a global leader in innovative manufacturing and environmental systems engineering. It has facilities around the world, including Roanoke County, where teams design high-tech, advanced automation parts.
TMEIC Scholars is open to engineering science majors at Roanoke College who are interested in staying and working in the region after graduation. Designed to support students in their crucial junior and senior years, it offers benefits including:
- Scholarships: $10,000 in annual scholarships will be awarded to each student in the program. Both TMEIC and Roanoke College will contribute to the scholarship fund as part of the collaboration.
- Internships: Paid summer internships will be offered to scholars at TMEIC’s cutting-edge facilities in Roanoke County.
- Mentorships: TMEIC mentors and Roanoke College alumni mentors will be paired with scholars to offer guidance and support.
- Career Development: Job shadowing, lab visits, training, and other professional development opportunities will be offered throughout the school year at TMEIC.
Two students will be added to the program every year. Each scholar will participate for a total of two years, beginning as juniors and finishing as seniors, gaining a wealth of real-world experience and insights that prepare them to lead in the future.
The program will go into effect immediately. The first two scholars will be selected this summer.
“Our partnership with TMEIC is a powerful investment in the future of our students and the future of our regional workforce,” Roanoke College President Frank Shushok Jr. said. “When higher education and industry come together with a shared vision, we don’t just prepare students for careers — we prepare them for leadership, service, and a life that matters. I’m grateful to TMEIC for joining us in that mission. Together, we’re opening doors to opportunity."
