Recycling Supervisor
Overview
The Recycling Supervisor, reporting to the Adventures Coordinator, is a leader within the recycling program who must show a high level of commitment for its success. The recycling supervisor is responsible for scheduling pick up runs, organizing special request recycling pick ups, supervising assistants, and directing decision-making given weather events during runs.
Hours
- Approximately 6-8 hours per week
- Hours vary but typically include afternoons and evenings during the week
Responsibilities
- Be on time and ready to work when scheduled and responsible as a key holder
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating recycling assistants
- Be responsible for the collection and transportation of recyclable materials on the Roanoke College campus
- Coordinate special recycling pick ups for faculty and staff who are in need of unscheduled assistance
- Keep recycling collection points neat, organized and functional
- Notify the coordinator of any equipment or repair needs
- Ensure the safety of recycling staff during recycling runs
- Drive college vehicles in a safe and appropriate manner
- Monitor changing weather conditions to determine if pick ups are possible
- Attend regular Campus Recreation leadership staff meetings
- Conduct regular Recycling staff meetings
- Keep an accurate record of hours worked and submit timesheet when due
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must be a currently enrolled student in good standing
- Demonstrated willingness and desire to grow the recycling program on campus
- Exceptional communication and proven leadership skills
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds
- Excellent team and supervisory skills
